Committee Description:
The Suez Crisis, also known as the Second Arab-Israeli War, erupted as Gamal Abdel Nasser, a prominent Egyptian figure gained influence within the ranks of the nation and obtained leadership in 1954. With the previous Kingdom of Egypt succumbing to the dusty pages of history, Nasser wished upon developing Egypt and earning it a spot on the World stage. Thus, aimed to nationalise the Suez Canal, which was under the control of the West. The United Kingdom on the other hand, hanging on the last fruits of their imperialistic past, decided not to abandon such a strategic holding, and conspired against the Egyptians as they took over the Canal by force in 1956.
